Making Africa Work – Where Are We Now, Part II

Dear all,
First of all, we would like to express our sincere gratitude to all participants in submitting their Business Canvasses! We were positively surprised in the amount of complete cases received after our last request.
Several actions have been undertaken in the month of May, and we would like to inform you what has happened since our last update, and what you may expect in the month of June.

Update on cases submitted – what to expect?

A total of 67 complete Business Canvasses have been submitted, divided between Ghana, Morocco, Rwanda, Kenya and Sierra Leone, an impressive feature of which a sufficient amount is to continue with follow-up actions!

After careful review from our jury (see our website for their introduction and background under Header “Entrepreneurs in the Netherlands” for those who have not yet done so) the Making Africa Work – team has made the final selection for follow-up this week. Every entrepreneur has received an individual message if his or her submitted Business Canvas is eligible for follow-up or not.
Country Facilitators

The Country Facilitators, responsible for the matchmaking with African entrepreneurs in Ghana, Morocco, Rwanda, Kenya and Sierra Leone, will start the Matchmaking process as soon as possible. Once you agree with the proposed connection in due time, it is encouraged for you to get in contact with your African counterpart, amongst others for planning a suitable period for travel.

Agreements before departure

Every entrepreneur and, if necessary, their respective coaches who will travel to one of the five MAW-countries, will receive instructions in due time to prepare for their journey.

Besides this request, we will ask you to sign a Confidentiality agreement, to ensure that all the provided (directly or indirectly) information will be treated with the utmost confidentiality, to protect the interests of yourself and the African partner. They will also be requested from our side to agree to our Code of Conduct. For the sake of open communication and transparency, these documents will also be made public on our website after June 19th.

Coaching session June 23rd for entrepreneurs and coaches whose BMC’s are approved

For the entrepreneurs and coaches whose submitted Business Canvasses is eligible for follow-up, a special session will be organized on Friday the 23rd of June at the PUM-office, Bezuidenhoutseweg 12, The Hague, in the afternoon. Invitations will be send next week to all participants whose Business Canvas has been approved for follow-up. At this session The MAW-team will explain to you in more detail the course of action during your stay, providing you also with the format of the business plan which you can use as guideline with your African counterpart.

Kind regards,

The Making Africa Work – team
